MAKING AN IMPACT
Monia has held a variety of roles across different industries, giving her a rich background that fortified her skill set. She started at MJS Packaging in 2013, working as an Administrative Assistant in our retail division, Sprayco Consumer Products.
She then moved up to Sales Support and after that, Inventory Support. Monia is now serving as our Inventory Coordinator in the Supply Chain department, a role that allows her to leverage her expertise to ensure our logistics run smoothly. It is so wonderful that we have had Monia as a valued team member for over a decade.
SHIPPING SMARTER
In this multi-faceted role, Monia manages international freight, handles customs paperwork, oversees 3PL inventory, and ensures compliance with importing classification and regulations. “I work with our brokers to make sure we are classifying items correctly,” she explains, which prevents us from erroneous and inflated charges. Her keen eye for detail helps us avoid delays and temper shipping costs when providing globally sourced packaging for our customers.
Her close collaboration with freight brokers results in better pricing and agile response in shipment troubleshooting. “I’ve managed to streamline Canadian border crossing to avoid delays,” states Monia. In addition, Monia’s collaboration with team members to manage 3PL warehousing offers customers strategically located inventory, resulting in reduced freight costs and faster shipping times.
LENDING HER EXPERTISE
Possessing an intimate understanding of international shipping enables her to expertly manage the entire shipping process, effectively resolving issues and delays. She stays current on trade regulations, customs requirements, and industry best practices to ensure compliance and avoid legal or financial penalties. Additionally, Monia addresses any arising issues promptly and provides regular updates and reports on shipment status and performance metrics.
“I provide our team with visibility and reports showing them real-time data,” Monia explains. “I analyze trends, conduct market tests, and stay informed about seasonal and economic changes. I also assist and provide our team with freight quotes and custom clearance details.” Additionally, she conducted Incoterms training for our team, helping us to mitigate risks and reduce costs effectively.
AMPING UP OUR TEAM
Our team is energized by Social Committee events and activities that allow us to connect and have fun. As leader of the Social Committee, Monia directly provides opportunities for interdepartmental teamwork and collaboration.
In addition, she shines in motivating our team to give back to the community, coordinating Walk to End Alzheimer’s and Movember initiative participation. Monia states that she “truly values the sense of family and community at MJS Packaging.” Social Committee events help bring our in-person and remote workers together, which contributes to an inclusive workplace.
