Beth Senak leads MJS Packaging’s Accounting and Finance department. Learn how Beth’s passion for accounting led her to serve and guide MJS Packaging on our path of continuous improvement.
FINDING HER PATH
Beth started out in business working in Customer Service and Purchasing roles. Accounting particularly called to Beth, and this led her to earn her Master’s in Professional Accountancy. She strengthened her resume with roles as Senior Accountant and Controller before onboarding at MJS Packaging.
In 2014, Beth was selected to join our team as Controller. She was drawn in by our family atmosphere and long history of success. This role gave her the chance to work in both upper-level financial preparation and day-to-day operations, a dynamic opportunity. Beth felt prepared to take on this new challenge. “My former experience in other areas of business assisted in understanding the needs of other departments and in creating procedures that benefited all.”
RISING TO THE OCCASION
In 2022, Beth was promoted to Director of Accounting and Finance. We are thankful to have had Beth with us for 10 years now. Her focus areas are project management, department planning and development, implementation of process improvements, cross-functional projects, and team leadership.
“The role requires me to focus on development and improvements within the Accounting and Finance Department to assure the long-term success of the company.” Beth’s drive is clear when it comes to her team’s performance. “Every business transaction finds its way through our department. All departments rely on us to process transactions accurately and promptly to keep the business running smoothly.”
EQUIPPING HER TEAM
Beth knows that technology will unlock ways for her team to work smarter, not harder. Right now, her department is implementing changes that will automate data entry and reduce paper usage. Improving accounting processes will help us in our core value of agile response, ensuring we can communicate quickly and serve our customers with speed. Moving towards paperless processes will aid MJS Packaging in sustainability efforts. “It will be interesting to see the changes, and how AI technology will contribute in the future,” says Beth.
It’s all about the team. Beth states that she benefits from having a very dedicated team of individuals who also challenge her to be better. “The Accounting team is in the ‘trenches’ I like to say, day in and day out, and their knowledge and feedback is essential when considering a process improvement or prioritizing a business direction.”
ENJOYING THE RIDE
Beth is grateful that she has been given opportunities for professional development and career growth at MJS Packaging. “I love that there is always something new to learn or get involved with. Even after 10 years, there is a never a dull moment!” She values that MJS Packaging is always giving back to the community, providing many opportunities for employees to volunteer.
Success is defined as achieving a work-life balance and leaving the world better than you found it, according to Beth. You can find Beth volunteering with organizations that mentor children in foster care, hosting social events at assisted living facilities, and helping to place animals in safe and caring homes.
