MJS Packaging gained a fantastic addition to our team in Jim Lightle, our Director of Global Sourcing. Discover how Jim provides a plethora of packaging choices to identify the right fit for our customers.

KNOWING THE PRODUCT

Jim got his start in retail, working in softlines. He spent 12 years in various retail roles, both in the field and at the corporate level. This career debut gave him valuable hands-on experience and an intimate knowledge of what it takes to shelf a great retail product.

From there, he went on to serve in merchandising and global sourcing positions for large retailers in the lawn and garden care and household industries, and in manufacturing. In 2021 Jim landed at MJS Packaging, where he utilizes his breadth and depth of experience to source and help create the best packaging solutions for our customers.

KNOWING WHERE TO GO

Our customers partner with us because we have a track record of long-standing success in this business. We have the expertise and network to orchestrate every aspect of a packaging project. It can be completely overwhelming if you don’t know which type of package will best protect and showcase your product, or how to find packaging at the closest location at the right price.

Thanks to Jim and the supply chain team, we have a vast and diverse network of packaging offerings which are continuously evaluated and strengthened. Jim actively works to develop and grow our packaging offerings for our retail and distribution customers. He helps our product development and sales team members identify the right packaging solutions at our target price points and quantities.

WHATEVER IT TAKES

“The Supply Chain and Global Sourcing Department assists our sales team in a variety of functions, from sourcing great products, to providing logistical solutions for delivery. We are solution-oriented and willing to help with whatever is needed.” MJS Packaging team members listen to their customers to understand their goals. We can help improve on everything from packaging design, to cost, to end-user experience.

Sourcing can present challenges due to the volatility of economic conditions. When Jim first joined us, glass availability was extremely limited due to the pandemic. Jim has been key to securing additional glass manufacturing sources both domestically and internationally to expand our competitive pricing and product availability within this category. The supply chain team assesses many packaging manufacturers and develops conducive partnerships to provide an array of choices for our customers.

JIM’S JOURNEYS

Jim has taken over 80 international business trips in his career, adeptly navigating factory visits and establishing working relationships. While he is strengthening our packaging offerings abroad, he is also grateful for the chance to learn about many different cultures. Jim likes to cook, so it’s no surprise he has enjoyed sampling cuisine all over the world.

What is Jim’s definition of success? It’s “being able to assist team members and see projects from their beginning to the finish.” Reflecting on his new-found perspective in the packaging industry, Jim states, “I never thought about packaging the way I do now… understanding the importance of the packaging solutions that we provide our customers is much more important than I ever realized.”

HISTORIC SUCCESS

Our people are equipped to provide consultative excellence and agile response. Jim recognizes that our culture and attitude differentiate us. “I think working for a family-owned company that has been around almost 140 years gives you a deep sense of pride about collaborating with great people from both the present and the past, which have helped this company continue to grow within our industry.”
